Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Reborn!, known in Japan as Katekyō Hitman Reborn! is Japanese manga written and illustrated by Akira Amano. Reborn! has become one of the best-selling Weekly Shōnen Jump manga with several of its volumes becoming top-sellers in Japan.

The Reborn! story revolves around a boy named Tsunayoshi "Tsuna" Sawada, who is chosen to become the Vongola Family's boss due to him being the great-great-great-great grandson of the first Vongola boss, who had moved to Japan from Italy during his time. He is told by Reborn that he will become the tenth (Italian decimo) Vongola boss. Also, the other candidates for the position of the head of the Vongola Family have died. For these reasons, Tsuna is the only remaining heir.

The current Vongola boss (Timoteo a.k.a. "Vongola IX",) thus sends his most trusted member, the titular character and infant hitman, Reborn, to train the future boss. Tsuna then unwillingly undergoes training from Reborn. Reborn's main method of teaching Tsuna is the "Dying Will Bullet", which will make the person be "reborn" with a stronger self intent on fulfilling his dying will. Through his experiences, the initially clumsy and underachieving Tsuna unconsciously becomes stronger and more confident, which ultimately makes him better suited as the Vongola Family's boss despite continuing to reject his Mafia inheritance. Tsuna gradually becomes a more confident person and leader, while Reborn slowly recruits members into Tsuna's own Mafia family, which mostly includes Tsuna's schoolmates. Tsuna goes through many predicaments in his progress of becoming the Vongola boss including fighting against escaped Mafia convicts posing as Kokuyo Junior High students. Though they encounter new allies in the form of other hitmen and mafiosi, they also attract attention from those who want to annihilate the future boss of the Vongola Family.

The Varia, Vongola assassin squad, claim the right for their boss, Xanxus to be the true Vongola boss, and start a competition to decide it. To defeat the Varia, Reborn recruits most of Tsuna's schoolmates to become the Vongola guardians: Hayato Gokudera, a dynamite expert who wishes to be his right-hand man, Takeshi Yamamoto, a baseball player who thinks the Mafia is a game, Ryohei Sasagawa, the energetic captain of the school boxing club, and Kyoya Hibari, the deadly head prefect. Lambo, a weak infant assassin who came to kill Reborn, and Chrome Dokuro, a girl who has a mental and physical link with the criminal Mukuro Rokudo, joins them as well.

When the story later shifts into an alternate future, nine years and ten months later, in which some of the characters are transported into, they have to adapt to a world where every Vongola member, as well as their allies, is being hunted down by a powerful rival family of that era, the Millefiore. They also find that all the Arcobaleno are dead except for Reborn from the past. As Tsuna and the Vongola Guardians from his time fight the Millefiore they learn that Shoichi Irie, a comrade of Tsuna's future self, was the one who sent them to the future as the future Tsuna said they were the only ones who can defeat the Millefiore leader Byakuran. It is later revealed that Byakuran has gained knowledge from parallel worlds and that he wants to obtain all the Mafia rings in order to obtain a power similar to omniscience.

After defeating Byakuran, Tsuna and company return to the present where they learn that Tsuna is to undergo the inheritance ceremony to officially become the 10th boss of the Vongola Family. However, the ceremony is attacked by the Shimon Family, who have sworn revenge on Vongola Primo for supposedly betraying the first Shimon boss. Using the power of the Shimon rings, they have destroyed the Vongola Rings, left Yamamoto hospitalised and kidnapped Chrome. However, a man named Talbot reconstructs the Vongola Rings into the Vongola Gear, and Tsuna and the remaining guardians go to Shimon's hideout where they must face the Shimon family in battles with their pride on the line. In addition, whoever loses in either side will be taken away by Vindice into prison forever. While the various battles take place it is revealed that Daemon Spade, a member of the first generation Vongola boss's family, is the one who kidnapped Chrome and has a dark agenda in the battle between these rival families.

Reviewers from the series praised its use of comedy as well as the designs used for the infants’ characters. Some attribute the story's humor to the peculiar characters with one reviewer positively describing it is as an insane collection of characters. They also mentioned that though it has become more violent since volume 8, it has turned into a better shōnen series, praising the storylines and the fights.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender (also known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang) is an American animated television series that aired for three seasons on Nickelodeon and the Nicktoons Network. The series was created and produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who served as executive producers along with Aaron Ehasz. Avatar is set in an Asian-influenced world of Chinese martial arts and elemental manipulation. The show drew on elements from traditional Asian (mainly Chinese, Indian and Japanese) culture and Indian religions (Hinduism and Buddhism), while blending the styles of anime and US domestic cartoons.

The series follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang and his friends, who must save the world by defeating the evil Fire Lord and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.

Season One (Book One: Water)

One hundred years before the start of the series, a 12-year-old airbender named Aang learns he is the new Avatar, the only person in his generation capable of manipulating all four elements to his will and the one tasked with maintaining peace between the Four Nations of the world. Fearful of the heavy responsibilities of being the Avatar, coupled with the coming separation from his beloved mentor Monk Gyatso (to complete his training), Aang flees from home on his animal guide, a flying bison called Appa. Caught by a fierce storm, they crash into the ocean, and Aang's protective Avatar State freezes them in a state of suspended animation inside an iceberg. Right after his disappearance, Fire Lord Sozin, realizing that according to the Avatar cycle the next Avatar will come from the Air Nomads, launches a genocidal campaign against the Air Nomads. This way he can ensure that the next Avatar will not try to foil his plots for world domination as the last one of his kind.

Aang becomes unfrozen by a young water-bending girl named Katara, and her older warrior brother, Sokka after being in the iceberg for one hundred years. The three travels to the North Pole so Aang and Katara can learn waterbending. While on their journey, Aang and friends visit the Southern Air Temple, where the new Avatar has a tragic encounter, discovering that the Fire Nation has indeed wiped out every last member of the Air Nomads except for himself, and meets up with the only known remaining "winged lemur" while there, that Aang names "Momo", who joins Aang's group. The trio is constantly being pursued by Prince Zuko, the exiled son of the current Fire Lord Ozai, who can only return to the Fire Nation and reclaim his honor and throne if he captures the Avatar. Zuko travels with his uncle Iroh, a legendary Fire Nation general and older brother of Ozai.

Season Two (Book Two: Earth)

After leaving the North Pole, Aang finishes mastering Waterbending under the instruction of Katara, who has mastered the element faster than he has. Aang and friends travel to the Earth Kingdom city of Omashu to master Earthbending. Their initial plan is to learn under Bumi, king of the Earth Kingdom city of Omashu, but they discover that he and Omashu have been captured by the Fire Nation and Bumi is waiting for the right time to strike. Searching for a new Earthbending teacher, the group meets Toph, a blind Earthbending prodigy who becomes Aang's second teacher and teaches him, amongst other things, her unique ability to use earthbending to "see" vibrations with her feet. After discovering a hidden ancient library, the heroes discover information about an upcoming solar eclipse which would deprive the Firebenders of their bending and open to invasion, giving Aang his chance to defeat the Firelord. They struggle to reach the Earth King with this vital information, but are detoured by Appa's kidnapping. Azula, Zuko's sister, and her two friends Mai and Ty Lee chase the group as they struggle to reach Ba Sing Se, the Earth Kingdom capital. By capturing and then impersonating the Kyoshi Warriors, Azula engineers a plan to manipulate a secret group of earthbenders called the Dai Li to instigate a coup d'état that allows the Fire Nation to take complete control over Ba Sing Se and deal a fatal defeat to the Earth Kingdom, and destroys any hope of the Earth Kingdom staging a large-scale invasion of the Fire Nation. In a final confrontation, Azula kills the Avatar using lightning while Aang is in the Avatar state. By a last minute betrayal by Iroh, Katara is able to escape with Aang's body. Thinking the Avatar is killed, the world begins to believe there is no hope left. In reality, the Avatar has been revived by Katara using water she had received from their water bending master which contains special properties that amplify her natural water bending healing powers.

Zuko deals with internal conflict as he and Iroh defect from the Fire Nation after his father orders his capture and imprisonment for his failures, settle in the Earth Kingdom, and disguise themselves as refugees and eventually end up opening a successful tea shop called "The Jasmine Dragon" in Ba Sing Se. After a brief period of reformation, Zuko again rejoins the Fire Nation when he helps Azula defeat Aang. As a reward, his exile is ended and he is allowed to return back to the Fire nation as a re-instated prince.

In the season finale, while captured by bounty hunters sent by the Bei Fong family to return Toph to her home, the "Blind Bandit" uses her earthbending skills to "see" the particles of refined earth that make metal and becomes the world's first "metal bender," a feat previously thought to be impossible.

Season Three (Book Three: Fire)

Ba Sing Se has fallen, and Aang is critically injured. He awakes to find his group on a Fire Nation ship disguised in similar regalia.

Sokka has planned a small-scale invasion of the Fire Nation to simply capture the Fire Lord's palace and defeat Fire Lord Ozai, making use of their previous plan to take advantage of a soon-approaching solar eclipse which will render Firebending impossible for eight minutes. However, instead of the Earth Kingdom army and navy, the invasion will be staged by a ragtag group of benders and warriors who became allies of the Avatar along his journeys in Books 1 and 2. Aang and his group then infiltrate the Fire Nation and travel to the rendezvous point for the invasion force. Also, Aang starts to have nightmares about meeting the firelord.

The invasion proceeds as planned with the group defeating much of the defenses and capturing the area around the palace, but Aang finds that the palace had been evacuated beforehand and the fire nation had foreknowledge of the invasion; the royal family has taken refuge in a nearby bunker under a volcano and prepared an air fleet in a surprise counter-maneuver. Aang never finds Firelord Ozai, but Zuko does, and uses the eclipse as his chance to confront his father and proclaim his decision to join the Avatar. As the group realizes they have failed in their main objective, they abandon the captured Fire Nation capital and make a desperate effort to reach their ships to escape. However, the pursuing air fleet destroys the protagonist party's ships. Now, only Aang's sky bison Appa can provide a means of escape, and Aang retreats with the children and teens aboard Appa while the adults stay behind and are taken captive.

Zuko catches up with Aang at the Western Air Temple and offers to teach Aang firebending, to complete his training as an Avatar and master all four elements. After a brief conflict, he is allowed to join the group. The two travel to unlock the firebending secrets of the original firebenders, the secretive "Sun Warriors". He and Sokka also plan an infiltration of Boiling Rock, a high-security Fire Nation prison surrounded by the boiling water within a volcanic caldera, where high ranking prisoners of war are kept. They find Sokka's father and Suki, the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors and Sokka's former love interest, but Zuko is quickly discovered and Azula comes to question him, accompanied by Mai and Ty Lee. Both girls eventually aid Zuko and Sokka in escaping the prison, betraying Azula in the process. Enraged, Azula demands their imprisonment and begins to slip into paranoia and insanity at the loss of her most trusted confidants and the later misguiding of her own father, the Fire Lord.

After regrouping, Sokka tries to create a new battle plan to defeat the Fire Lord before he can make use of the approaching Sozin's comet to empower himself and his armies (the worst case scenario the avatar had been trying to prevent since Book 1), but peace-loving Aang refuses when they ask him to kill Firelord Ozai. In his confusion, he is drawn to a mysterious island and meditates on other ways to defeat Ozai by calling on the spirits of other past Avatars for advice. Each Avatar advises him to destroy Ozai, and Aang is reluctantly resigned to killing him until he discovers that the island that he and Momo are on is really an ancient, giant, wise "lion-turtle." Aang asks it for advice, and the Lion-Turtle teaches him the ancient art of Spiritbending as a way to avoid killing Ozai.

On the day of Sozin's Comet, Fire Lord Ozai, now the self-proclaimed "Phoenix King" harnesses the comet's power to start a genocidal campaign to finally annihilate the Earth Kingdom. Princess Azula (Ozai's daughter and Zuko's sister) has come up with a plan to use the airship fleet to destroy the hope of the Earth Kingdom, thus ending it. While Aang and Momo are still missing from their own trip to the "mysterious island", Aang's friends set off to face Ozai, Azula (soon to be crowned the new Fire Lord), and the entire Fire Nation army. Zuko and Katara go to face Azula just moments before her coronation, so that he can usurp the throne in her stead; Sokka, Suki and Toph sabotage the air fleet; and the Order of the White Lotus fights to reclaim Ba Sing Se from the Fire Nation. Aang returns just in time to take on Phoenix King Ozai. Finally reclaiming his ability to enter the Avatar State, Aang almost kills Ozai before restraining himself and instead calls upon the lost art of Energybending to remove Ozai's bending abilities altogether. The war is over, Zuko is crowned Fire Lord, and alongside Aang, he ends the war and promises to bring harmony to the entire world. As Fire Lord Zuko visits his father in prison and demands to know the location of his mother right before the whole group is together for tea in Iroh's teashop in Ba Sing Se. While Sokka is painting a picture of everyone, Aang goes out, Katara follows him, and the series ends with them kissing. Aang and Katara are finally together at last.

LaMB

LaMB is an animated film produced by Animax directed by Ryosuke Tei with the original script written by Carmelo S. J. Juinio. LaMB actually is the first Animax’s original anime production project based on the script submitted by a Filipino writer, Carmelo Juinio for the 6th Animax Awards in 2007. Instead of "LaMB", the original script title of this animation is "Laminated Woman: To the Sand Planet Cerra" (what a mouthful title). Although it didn’t win the Grand Prize (only regional winner), but it really impressed the judges so much that they decide to turn it into a feature length animation too. It is also the first and biggest Animax original production. It featured the French-Canadian band Simple Plan and the American band The Click Five that provided two different songs for the opening and ending themes of the movie. The film was storyboarded by Yasufumi Soejima, whose work as a 3D director can be seen in Last Exile and Gankutsuou.

Basically, this story takes place in distant future in a desert planet called Cerra. One unique thing about this planet is its imprisonment system without walls. Prisoners has to go through the “Lamination” process where they will wear the cybernetic laminated skin-tight suits and then they can move around the place and do slavery job that cannot be done by machine or robots. The laminated prisoners are called LaMBs. One of the LaMBs is Eve (voice by Medicorp DJ, Petrina Kow), an ex-weapon specialist who has accidentally taken innocent lives while doing her military operation job.

The story of LaMB centers around the life of the protagonist Sara Integra known as (Eve1135) Eve, who can barely speak nor make her own decisions – she being one of the many felons sealed in a "laminated" suit. The virtual slavery that is Lamination ensures that those convicted of serious crimes remain productive, if not free, members of society, making both jails and the death penalty unnecessary in a world where human ingenuity, creativity and labor continue to be precious commodities that cannot be replaced by robots or any form of “artificial” intelligence. Eve was charged with manslaughter and then sentenced to 200 years in the virtual imprisonment behind the laminated suit. It is a fate that Eve met with Dr . Jack Griswold (voice by Vanness Wu, a JVKV or F4 member), a scientist specializing in advanced botanical engineering from another planet who is such a workaholic in order to forget the tragic loss of his dead wife.

Dr. Jack Griswold is another protagonist in the story. Inadvertedly, Jack gets pulled into the politics behind the system of "Lamination", and a romance with Eve.

Pumpkin Scissors

Pumpkin Scissors is a manga created and authored by Ryoutarou Iwanaga. An anime adaptation of Pumpkin Scissors has been released, produced by Gonzo and AIC, which began airing on October 2, 2006 across several Japanese televisions stations and ended with the 24th episode on March 19, 2007.

The main female protagonist in the story is 2nd Lieutenant Alice L. Malvin, she is the second in command and field leader of the Pumpkin Scissors. An inexperienced soldier of noble origin who graduated in the academy just before the ceasefire (the ceasefire was announced literally in the middle of the graduation ceremony for the class of officers she was in at military academy); Alice's hot-tempered and reckless demeanor tends to sometimes put her and her subordinates in danger. She has a strong sense of duty and justice and tries to live up to her family's military traditions, contrary to her father and sisters' belief that she must assume a more feminine behavior. While she is the current heir to her family, she will likely lose this position once her younger brother comes of age.

Corporal Randel Oland is the main male protagonist. He is a retired soldier who joined the Pumpkin Scissors to aid in their war relief effort. He was part of the secret 901 anti-tank-trooper unit, which basically consisted of foot soldiers trained to take down enemy tanks by them. This unit, known also as the "Gespenster Jäger" (German for "Ghost Hunter") was part of the "Invisible 9". They are specially trained to ignore pain and fear in order to engage tanks and armored vehicles at point blank range. While the division was secret, all tank crews were warned to be wary of soldiers carrying a blue lantern. Despite his impressive stature (well over six feet tall), and a body riddled with scars, Randel's nature most of the time is kindhearted and ingenuous. But when he is in trouble he turns on his blue-steel lantern marked "901-ATT", and he becomes a fearless and vicious combatant. He is capable of defeating even heavily-armored foes with his 13 mm anti-tank gun, known as the "door knocker" (highly reminiscent of a Thompson Contender pistol).

Due to his reckless style of combat, Randel is frequently hospitalized during the series. These hospital stays lead to a running gag about the size of the corporal's penis, and the inability of the hospital staff to get a urine container that will not break.

In the story you will encounter a lot of interesting characters that will make the story much more colorful. Now that the main characters are being introduced, here comes the synopsis.

Set in a region strongly resembling Western Europe, in which a catastrophic war has just ended similar to that of the two world wars that occurred in the early parts of the 20th Century, the Royal Empire and the Republic of Frost have declared a ceasefire to end the war indefinitely. The Empire is plagued by starvation, and pestilence, with former soldiers turning to thievery, banditry and others forms of crime, forming into gangs to survive the post-war period. To aid the people of the Empire in the war relief effort, the Imperial Army State Section III, also known as the Pumpkin Scissors unit, is established.

The name for the group was an idea from one of its officers, the 2nd Lieutenant Alice L. Malvin, according to her, in their war relief effort they must "face the threat of corrupt people who protect themselves behind lies, power, and money like the rind of a pumpkin", and Section III must act like a pair of scissors cutting through those layers and delivering justice for the people. This is a constant message which ripples throughout the series. The units are, however, berated constantly, considered propaganda tools used by the government, and are seen as an insult to the war relief effort by many within the army as well, as the Empire's citizens. Randel Oland, a veteran soldier with a mysterious past, joins their ranks and steadily the Pumpkin Scissors unit begins to be taken more seriously as the anime's plotline begins to unravel.

The anime series of Pumpkin Scissors is good and interesting, the animation is mostly decent, but noticeably fluctuates. For an action series, I wouldn’t say the action sequences are that great: many of the important fights are battles of attrition, which can become rather dull at times. The fights involving Oland are more interesting and generally over quicker, but they follow an obvious formula: blue light comes on – Oland takes out his Doorknocker – trash gets taken out.

Just watch it and have some comment here.

Hana Yori Dango

The story revolves with Tsukushi Makino, a working-class girl and the F4 (flower four), the most popular and rich children of the Eitoku Academy.

The F4 leader and son of the wealthiest, most powerful family in Japan, Domyouji Tsukasa, takes an interest in Tsukushi, because she is the only girl at Eitoku who does not fawn over him. However, his hot-headed nature and bullying ways is originally a major turn-off for Tsukushi, who has her sights set on Hanazawa Rui. Hanazawa Rui, Tsukasa's best friend, is a quiet and cold guy, but he has a soft spot for his close friend and Tsukushi's idol, the model Todou Shizuka, whom he harbored feelings for since childhood.

The other two members of the F4 are Mimasaka Akira, the laid-back peacemaker of the group, and Nishikado Sōjirō, an unrepentant playboy. They both usually have at least one girlfriend at any one time; Akira prefers older women because the women of his household (his mother and two younger sisters) are quite silly. Sojiro is happy to be in casual relationships with many women, although we later discover that at one time he was in love with a childhood friend.
Over the course of the series, however, Tsukushi's feelings evolve, and she begins to appreciate the degree of change that occurred in Tsukasa once he fell in love with her. He becomes fiercely loyal to Tsukushi and believes in her beyond all doubt, and slowly gets her to see him in a different light.

This is the best love story I’ve ever seen. The series is a combination of drama, romance and comedy, also a bit of action. The mood can be slow and gentle, or intense and frightening. All characters are interesting and the music is great. The series is much like a teen soap opera. The voice acting is interesting, and the character designs are unusual. The color scheme of HYD is unusual as well. The colors are very muted and soft. There are lots of pale yellows, cream, grays, blue-gray, and browns. I think this lends the series a greater sense of reality. Anyway, if you should come across this series, I highly recommend checking it out.

Hayate The Combat Butler

Hayate the Combat Butler is about Hayate Ayasaki an unlucky sixteen years old teenager who worked since the age of eight to make ends meet due to his parents' irresponsible behavior. He always moves from job to job, as he is fired when he is discovered to be underage. One day he finds out that his parents ran away from home, leaving behind a huge gambling debt on his shoulders. While running away from the debt collectors, he ends up meeting Nagi Sanzen'in, a thirteen year old girl who is the only heir of the rich Sanzen'in estate. She is an extremely irresponsible spoiled little girl who doesn't know how to do much on her own besides read manga and play video games. She also has an otaku-level hobby with manga and anime, and draws her own, very strange, manga, called End of the Century Legend: Magical Destroy. She is good at finances and likes to learn. She has a pet tiger named Tama, who has gained the ability to speak like a human being through watching extensive amounts of anime with Nagi. Due to a misunderstanding, Nagi ends up falling in love with Hayate. After he rescues Nagi from some kidnappers, she hires Hayate as her new butler.

Aside from performing his ordinary duties as a butler, Hayate must struggle to protect Nagi from harm, a complicated task as her life is at all times in danger because she is the aim of other individuals coveting her family's wealth, and sometimes deal with some extravagant requests from her, oblivious to Nagi's true feelings for him.

Jyu-Oh-Sei

Jyu-Oh-Sei (Planet of the Beast King) is a manga series created by Natsumi Itsuki. The story started at the Balkan star system, located approximately 150 light years from Earth. Thor and his twin brother, Rai found their parents murdered in their house. Unknown masked men gas the children knocking them out after witnessing the suspicious death of their parents. The two 12-year-old young twins awake to find themselves on Chimera, a secret planet used as a penal colony where day and night last 181 days each and the planet marked by extreme weather patterns. Chimera is also known as the Planet of the Beast King. Given only a beam knife and a smelly satchel, they wander together in search of civilization on the primarily plant based world. The boys are not only attacked by the planet's carnivorous plants, but also by a group of humans whom they eventually learn are the "Wildlings". After a chase, the leader of the hunters, Zagi, orders his man to back away so he can give the brothers a tour of the planet. He explained that their group contains mostly younger adults and kids who were abandoned by the Rings. In Chimera humans are divided into groups called Rings based on their skin color, these Rings are the Ochre Ring, Sun Ring, Blanc Ring and Night Ring. In order to escape this planet, one has to become a Jyu-Oh, which is the King that lords over all four tribes.

The Wildlings beat Rai after he spills water, a precious commodity there. When Zagi warns Thor that Rai will hold him back and that the others will "cull" him during the next night phase, the boys leave. While trying to escape an attack from the Ochre Ring, Rai is killed by one of the plants. Thor is rescued by a woman named Tiz, who along with a man named Third, take him to the Ochre Ring. After treating his wounds, they explain the planet's politics to him. He learns that each ring is led by three people: the Top, Second, and Third, with the Top as the leader. He also learns that due to women making up only 20% of the population, they are considered extremely special, live apart from men, and are the ones who get to choose their husbands during the "Month of Joining", a request a man is generally not allowed to refuse. Despite his refusal, Tiz chooses Thor as her first husband.

Tiz was originally the Second of the Sun Ring’s female clan. Immediately after meeting Thor, she takes a liking to him and tries to make him her husband, much to Thor's disappointment. Tiz even left the Sun Ring, after Thor fought with Chen and won, just to be with him.

Thor and Tiz decided to form their own ring but they need at least 3 members, Third in surprise volunteer himself to be the 3rd member of the group. This guy is known only as Third as he is the third in command of Ocher Ring. He acts as a supporter of Thor when he declares that he intends to become the Beast King. This guy is very mysterious and his motive will be revealed at the last few episodes of the story which is using Thor to complete a mission given to him by his commander so that he could go to Earth. He will be very disappointed at the last part when he will discover that Earth had been destroyed 130 years ago. He will commit suicide in order to force Thor into escaping from Hecate.

There are lots of exciting scene in the whole 11 episode so better watched it. There’s lot of twist in the story in Thor’s life. I feel so sorry for Tiz, especially as Thor’s immediate infatuation with Karim was quite rapid and perhaps unintentionally amusing. The whole story is great, there’s so much adventure in it but I feel not so happy with the ending. I think the ending is not complete there’s something missing in it.

Watanuki’s growth and change will happened because of his experiences of meeting one person. Yuko, according to a fortune teller in Volume 2, is the one that will change Watanuki. However, it’s implied that he will be linked to both Yuko and Domeki and that all their connections were foreseen.

Yamato Nadeshiko (The Wallflower)

Yamato Nadeshiko - The WallflowerYamato Nadeshiko (The Wallflower) is a manga series written by Tomoko Hayakawa. Nippon Animation adapted part of the manga series into a twenty-five episode anime series. Yamato Nadeshiko is a common term used in Japan to describe the ideal beautiful woman. The story revolve around Sunako Nakahara, a girl called “ugly” by a boy, who happened to be the first and only person to whom she confessed her love because of this incident, she losses her sparks in life and change for the worst. She became reclusive and generally developed a fear of pretty boys of which she refers to as “dazzling creatures”. She became a lover of solitude, gore movies, anatomical dolls and objects that reflect the ugly side of life as she puts it. Sunako’s aunt who has a big concern to her and was the owner of a beautiful mansion ion where four very handsome students live, offers the guys free rent if they can transform niece, Sunako, into a “perfect lady” but if they fail, the rent goes triple. Due to these handsome boys confidence in knowing how to deal with women, they agree.

Before anything else I would like to introduce these four handsome guys. Kyouhei Takano, the most popular of the foursome. He is very loud and bossy when it comes to his needs. He was forced to leave home because all of the mobbing and harassment by his fans were taking a toll on his family. As the story goes he will have unsorted feelings for Sunako which he demonstrates by constantly provoking her rage. Next is Takenaga Oda comes from a very wealthy family and is quite serious in nature. He is the brain and logic of the group often trying out logical strategies to make Sunako become a lady. He has a love interest in “Noi” Kasahara, but his shyness gets in the way when he wants to express his feelings. Another is Yukinojo “Yuki” Toyama, he is shy but sweet and has a very loving nature. He is the most innocent of all the characters, often crying and becoming scared when he enters Sunako’s room. Last but not the least is Ranmaru Morii, the playboy of the group. Ranmaru comes from a wealthy family and is an only son. He is very extroverted and a lover of older women. He has a very sexy nature and extremely high self esteem.

Yamato Nadeshiko - The WallflowerNow that you know these four lovely men let’s bYamato Nadeshiko - The Wallflowerack to the story. When the guys first meet Sunako, they begin to realize that their lovely living arrangements may soon be in jeopardy. Although the four are able to make Sunako physically attractive the difficult part is with her personality. Sunako has no intention in changing her tastes, her love for all things macabre (gruesome and horrifying content) is a difficult challenge that the boys must face. Eventually, Sunako will develop an especially mixed feelings about Kyouhei, and as the storyline progresses, their relationship becomes more solid and intimate. There’s a lot of adventure and funny moment in the story that the boys faced just to encourage Sunako to change but still they failed. The boys managed to convince Sunako’s aunt that her niece is indeed a lady befitting the mansion in which they live (and prevent the rent from skyrocketing to triple the required amount). However, in reality, Sunako has not changed considerably. In the last part of it you will see Sunako change her physical appearance in to a lovely lady and that is so exciting.

Sunako Nakahara and Kyouhei Takano of Yamato Nadeshiko - The WallflowerThe story is a combination of comedy, drama and romance which can catch viewer’s different taste. It is composed of handsome boys, which I can say that this was made intended for male audiences. The series deals with the extravagant life of a group of bishounen characters who cause nose bleeds to girls where ever they go. It’s a shojo series with lots of sparkles and flowers that can be enjoyed by guys just as much as girls. The most interesting part is mixture of horror and comedy in the plot, it’s like Sadako meets the F4. The series is full of comical moments that will keep you laughing throughout the series, there are some jokes that require some knowledge of Japanese anime but I’m sure most of you will understand it. Hence it gives moral value and touching stories each episode despite its weird concept.

GetBackers

Ginji Amano and Ban Mido of GetBackersGetBackers is a manga series written by Yuya Aoki and illustrated by Rando Ayamine. The manga was adapted into an animated television series in 2002. The series tells the story of Ginji Amano and Ban Mido, a pair of super powered individuals known as the GetBackers. The duo operates a freelance repossession service, their job is to recover any lost or stolen item for a client with an “almost 100% success rate” for certain amount fee. The plot mostly revolves around their adventures, often complicated by the pair's convoluted, individual pasts and a mysterious place known as the Infinity Fortress.

Ban possesses two special powers, the “Snake Bite” (his hands have a gripping power of 200kg) and the “Evil Eye” (anyone who looks into his eyes will be locked into a powerful and nightmarish hallucination). Ginji, on the other hand, has the ability to generate thousands of volts of electricity from his body. He was once the fearsome “Lightning Emperor” and the leader of a gang called The VOLTS in the Infinity Fortress. He received the title “Raitei” (literally, Lightning Emperor or Thunder Emperor) because of his ability.

Hevn, Natsumi, Paul, Ginji Amano and Ban Mido of GetBackers

They have some colleague like Hevn, she is the negotiator for the Getbackers, providing them with new, often dangerous, jobs. Even more ironic is that with the GetBacker’s money luck, they often end up getting no pay for any of Hevn’s dangerous jobs. And Natsumi, she was the GetBacker’s first client in the series and because of that Paul was introduced. He is the owner of the Honky Tonk, which is where the GetBackers often loiter and build up their tab. These people share good bonding to Ban and Ginji in their adventures and fights. Also adds happiness and excitement in the story.

Dr. Jackal and Himiko aka Lady Poison, the transporters, of GetBackersBan and Ginji claim a 100 percent success rate in returning lost or stolen property to its original owner. Their claims are put to the test in the series' first five episodes, as a high-school girl hires them to reclaim her precious handmade stuffed cat; a homeless man requests they rescue his daughter, who’s fallen into yakuza hands; and a wealthy businessman sends them to retrieve a stolen strongbox. The story became more intense when they encounter and fight against some equally talented freelance “transporters” who have been hired to defend the lockbox from the likes of Ginji and Ban. Among their enemies are “Dr. Jackal”, a quick-moving sadist who can manifest razor-sharp weapons out of his bare hands, and “Lady Poison”, a girl with phenomenal chemical weapons and a secret connection with Ban.

Then the next episode would then mainly revolve around the Mugenjou (Infinite Castle) and the battles that Ginji and Ban went through inside it, trying to solve its puzzle and mystery while at the same time saving the friends Ginji had there. A lot of philosophy about existence would surface later.

The GetBackersGetBackers is a lively, colorful series, with a lot of intense, graphic action and nicely animated motion, but the clear sense is that Ginji and Ban are both deeply tragic figures with a great deal of history. Ginji was once a feared gang leader, which leads to oblique flashbacks in which shadowy figures describe him as an “invincible being” and “the emperor of this limitless fortress”. Ban’s connection to Lady Poison, aka Himiko, spawned a complicated grudge that seems to stem from an even more complicated promise. Even the first meeting between Ginji and Ban is briefly hinted at in an explosive-looking scene that sets the stage for intense drama to come.

This anime is a composition of action, drama, romance and comedy. Also it shows good moral value and the importance of friendship. The story has lots of twist and turn that add to its spice.

Death Note

Light and L of Death NoteDeath Note (Desu Nōto?) is a Japanese manga series created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata. The series focus on a high school student, Light Yagami, who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone by writing the victim's name and picturing his face. The plot follows his attempt to create and lead a world cleansed of evil using the book, and the complex conflict between himself and those assailing him that results.

Light Yagami is an extremely intelligent young man who resents the crime and corruption in the world. His life change when he discovers a mysterious notebook, known as the "Death Note", lying on the ground. This notebook has a terrifying powers that can kill or control anyone whose name was written in it. The Death Note's instructions claim that if a humans name is written within it, that person shall die.

Death Notes all have rules written on the Note's first page. The basic rules are as follows:

Death Note Rules
* The human whose name is written in this note shall die.

* This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.

* If the cause of death is written within 40 seconds of writing the subject's name, it will happen.

* If the cause of death is not specified, the subject will simply die of a heart attack.

* After writing the cause of death, the details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds (400 seconds).

There were additional rules written in the notebook which was done for some purpose to elaborate the story better. These rules often serve to clarify the more esoteric uses of the Death Note that the characters discover on their own. Official Death Notes contain over 40 pages of how to use it, consisting of both those written in the Notes and those shown in as eyecatchs.

Light aka Kira and Ryuk of Death NoteLight is initially skeptical of the notebook's authenticity, but after experimenting with it, Light realizes that the Death Note is real. After meeting with the previous owner of the Death Note, a shinigami named Ryuk, Light seeks to become "the God of the New World" by passing his judgment on those he deems to be evil or who get in his way.

Soon, the number of inexplicable deaths of reported criminals catches the attention of the International Police Organization and a mysterious detective known only as "L". L quickly learns that the serial killer, dubbed by the public as "Kira" (Kira derived from the Japanese pronunciation of the word "killer"), is located in Japan. L also concludes that Kira can kill people without laying a finger on them. Light realizes that L will be his greatest nemesis, and a game of psychological cat and mouse between the two begins.

L of Death NoteLight's father, Soichiro Yagami is a police officer who was assigned to lead the Kira investigation team. He becomes disappointed with the lack of police cooperation in Kira's case, eventually he join forces with L to form a special investigative team. After a test that L set-up, he suspected that Light is the one who called Kira. Soichiro didn't believe in it but he still insist to remain helpful in the team. To investigate Light further, L needs to reveal himself. The battle between Light and L became very intense. Lots of twist and turn happened between the two.

Misa Amane of Death NoteAs the investigation goes by, a second Kira appears, Misa Amane. She is a girl with an immense crush on Kira, Misa is a popular idol in Japan. She is immature and tends to refer to herself in the third person in an attempt to be cute. Misa is completely devoted to Light, and she once said that she loved him at first sight. Light, however, only views her as an asset to his plans because of her Death Note and her Shinigami eyes (that she obtained at the cost of half of her remaining life span, twice). Misa devotes herself to Light because he killed her parents' murderer after several trials had failed to convict him. She also has same story with Light in having the notebook. It was fallen in her from nowhere, but obviously it was given by Shinigami. Rem is the Shinigami whose own Misa's Death Note. Similar to Ryuk, Rem possesses two Death Notes. However, she purposely gives one of them to Misa Amane. Rem inherited her second Death Note from Jealous, another shinigami who died when he saved Misa's life, and thought it only right to pass it on to Misa. Rem inherits Jealous' love for Misa as well and is prompt to defend Misa even at the cost of her life. Rem shows this when she states that she will kill Light if Misa dies before her time.

Mello of Death NoteAs there were two Kira now L lead to confusion a bit of time but manage because of his genius mind. He found out that Misa is the second Kira and tried to prove it. He ordered kidnapped Misa and tortured it to tell the truth. But with Light brilliant mind L fall in his trap. L knows that he will die in the game that's why he choose someone who will inherit his position. The two kids from the orphanage named Near and Mello became the candidate for L's successor. When L die because Light put a trap to Rem to kill L, the kids take over in the investigating team.

Near of Death NoteMello was an orphan who grew up with Near in Watari's shelter for gifted children. Similar to L's fondness for sweets, he is often seen eating bars of chocolate. Although Mello is quite intelligent, he often lets his emotions get the better of him. Mello wears leather most of the time, unlike Near or L. He also appears to be less secluded in terms of his friends and hobbies, and seems to be fond of biking. While Near was a primary candidate to become L's successor and calls himself N during the course of his investigations. He shares a number of similarities with L. Much like how L plays with things such as sugar cubes and forks, Near is frequently shown playing with toys or his hair. Near also sits in an unusual manner similar to L, but with some slight differences. He offered to join forces with Mello to fight Kira, but Mello turned him down. Near then gained the support of the Government of the United States and formed the Secret Provision for Kira (SPK).

As the story meets its finale, Light falls in Near hands. Light might underestimate the kid capabilities. When Kira's identity almost reveal, police hunt Light but he is not capable of fighting because he is wounded. Ryuk decided to kill Light for he told Light in the beginning that he is the one who will take away Light's life in the future.
